PCOS Treatment for Fertility

What is PCOS?

PCOS, also known as a polycystic ovarian syndrome, is a common health problem caused by an imbalance of reproductive hormones. The hormonal imbalance creates problems in the ovaries. The ovaries make the egg that is released each month as part of a healthy menstrual cycle. However, with PCOS, the egg may not develop as it should or it may not be released during ovulation as it should be.

PCOS Treatment

Metformin

Diabetes type 2 can be treated effectively with metformin. It improves the body’s insulin tolerance and its ability to use it properly. This is not the initial PCOS treatment for fertility at our clinic, but it is one that can be employed to promote heavy periods as well as fertility. Metformin is not nearly as helpful as letrozole as well as clomiphene when it comes to helping women having PCOS who really are having trouble conceiving a child. For this reason, it is not typically suggested to women who are in this situation. Metformin, however, has been shown to stimulate ovulation; hence, women who take this medication during PCOS treatment but do not wish towards becoming pregnant must practice effective birth control because they may begin ovulating.

Symptoms of PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome):

  • Irregular menstrual cycle. Women with Polycystic ovary syndrome may miss periods or have fewer periods (i.e. fewer than eight in a year). Or, their periods may come every 21 days or more often. Some women with PCOS stop having menstrual periods
  • Too much hair on the face, chin, or parts of the body where men usually have hair. This is called hirsutism and it affects many women with PCOS
  • Acne on the face, chest, and upper back.
  • Thinning hair or hair loss on the scalp; male-pattern baldness.
  • Weight gain or difficulty losing weight.
  • Darkening of skin, particularly along neck creases, in the groin, and underneath breasts.
  • Skin tags, which are small excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area.

PCOS and Pregnancy

PCOS can cause missed or irregular menstrual periods. Which can lead to Infertility (inability to get pregnant), and provides us with evidence of the inverse relationship between PCOS and fertility. In fact, PCOS is one of the most common causes of infertility found in women. And, it also leads to the development of cysts (small fluid-filled sacs) in the ovaries.

Hairiness on the face (hirsutism)

A significant number of women seek medical attention because of the aesthetic issues caused by excessive facial hair as well as acne at our clinic. This is because there is a greater quantity of androgens, which seem to be substances that have an effect on the skin. Contraceptive pills offer a number of real benefits in the treatment of this illness, including the following:

  • LH secretion is decreased, which in turn leads to a reduction in ovarian androgens.
  • Boosts levels of sexual hormone binding globulin, which in turn reduces the quantity of free hormones present in the body that are responsible for these symptoms.

This PCOS treatment for fertility at our clinic typically results in an improvement after eight to ten months have passed. Oral contraceptives could also promote frequent hemorrhaging during discontinuation, this lowers the chance of endometrial hyperplasia, a condition that can be a precursor to endometrial cancer. If somehow the symptoms are still present, spironolactone, also known as Aldactone, is administered. This is a drug for blood pressure; however, it also suppresses the androgen chemical just at transmitter level on the skin. This results in less hair growth and less acne during a PCOS treatment in UAE. In most cases, we begin with a low dose and gradually raise it over the course of one month. Mental fogginess, nausea, as well as lowered blood pressure are all potential adverse effects of this medication. Other anti-androgen drugs, such as flutamide or finasteride, have been tried; however, the adverse effects of these medication can be rather severe.

Monitoring therapy

You will come back to see us three months after you first started taking metformin for your follow-up appointment. Women who are taking either rosiglitazone as well as pioglitazone will have follow-up appointments every two months for monitoring of their liver enzymes.

If, after 4 weeks of our PCOS treatment for fertility, you had experienced normal menstrual cycles, we may recommend that you remain with this medication for an additional 3 months. Alternatively, you may choose to move forward with fertility drugs. In the event that you haven’t yet established a regular cycle, we will consider the possibility of adding reproductive medicine in order to stimulate ovulation.

The sort of fertility medicine that is prescribed to you will be determined by your age, the results of your basic medical tests, your health records, and the extent to which you want to pursue aggressive reproductive procedures.

PCOS and Unwanted Pregnancies

Having polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) puts a woman at an elevated risk of miscarriage, regardless of how the pregnancy was conceived—naturally, with the use of fertility drugs, or otherwise. It is currently unknown what caused this to occur. It would indicate that secretion of LH and elevated levels of testosterone are the contributing variables during the PCOS treatment in UAE. A high level of LH may stimulate the creation of eggs that are immature and embryos that are of low quality. The higher testosterone levels may have a negative impact on the uterine lining as well as the fertilization process.

There is a possibility that hyperinsulinemia is another component that contributes to the increased risk of miscarriage. When insulin levels are high, they disrupt the usual equilibrium that exists here between factors that cause blood clotting as well as the factors that encourage the clots to decompose.

An increase in blood clotting there at connection seen between uterine wall (endometrium) and the placenta might be the consequence of a rise in plasminogen activator inhibitor activity (PAI-Fx) that is related with enhanced insulin concentrations. This might cause placental instability, which in turn may lead to a miscarriages.

There has been a number of studies that point to the fact that the health of the baby born to women who were on insulin-lowering drugs at the time of conception has been shown to be enhanced. This is most likely to happen during a PCOS treatment for fertility at our clinic. These drugs reduce levels of both androgen and LH, and as a result, there is a possibility that both egg quality as well as the environment inside the uterus will improve.
